Board of Education
Regular Meeting Format
The Glenbrook High School District 225 Board meetings are generally scheduled on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Occasionally, a holiday or other circumstance alters this schedule. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. Board meeting locations will alternate by semester between Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North. All summer and first semester board meetings will be held at Glenbrook South in the Student Activity Center and all second semester board meetings will be held at Glenbrook North in the Instructional Materials Center.
Recognition of Community Visitors
For the convenience of the public, a period called "Recognition of Community Visitors" is set aside at the beginning of each meeting. The Board president will ask if there is anyone in the audience who would like to address the Board. A podium is provided, and individuals are asked to limit their comments to three to five minutes during this period. Comments do not have to be limited to agenda items.
Comments During the Meeting
Public comments during specific agenda items will not be permitted without the approval of the Board of Education.
The Board is permitted by law to consider the following matters in executive session: collective negotiations; the acquisition or sale of real property; pending court proceedings; appointment, employment, or dismissal of an employee or testimony on a complaint against an employee; a student disciplinary case; information relating to individual students in special education programs; the appointment of a member to fill a vacancy on the Board; sessions with an advisory committee to provide professional consultation which are held about matters of professional ethics or performance. Formal action on these and all other matters must be taken in public sessions.
Community members may also give written statements to the Board. To have your statement included in the information (Board packet) for Board members, your statement must reach the district office (3801 W. Lake Avenue, Glenview IL 60026, or by fax, 486-4733) four working days prior to the Board meeting. Otherwise, you may give Board members copies of your written materials at the Board meeting.
